Amritsar Amritsar known for its Golden Temple, the most sacred shrine of the Sikhs, welcomes you to come and spend a peaceful holiday with your loved ones. Amritsar derived its name from the water pool (Pool of Nectar). Amritsar is the most revered place of the Sikh Community. Once a dense forest, Amritsar was sanctified by Guru Nanakji who blessed a local herd boy to preach the tenets of Sikhism to his fellowmen; who grew up to be the first 'granthi' of the famous Har Mandir Sahib or the Golden Temple that was constructed by Guru Arjan Devji in the center of Amrit Sarovar.

 

Bodhgaya This is where Prince Gautama attained enlightenment under the sacred Asvatta tree (Bodhi tree) and became known as Lord Budha. This is one of the four most sacred pilgrimage places for the Buddhists. The other three important places are his place of birth at Lumbini, Nepal; the site of his first lecture at Sarnath, near Varanasi; and the place where he left his body at Kushinagar, near Gorakhpur. Buddhists from all over the world have built temples here in Bodh Gaya. The Dalai Lama often spends time here. Tibetan pilgrims come here for the winter from Dharamshala. Bodh Gaya is located about 13 km from Gaya, 450km west of Calcutta, and 90 km south of Patna.

 

Chardham Yatra The lofty Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand are located the holy Hindu shrines of Badrinath , Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, together form the Char Dham or the Four Holy Shrines. The region is referred as the land of the gods in the ancient Puranas.Over the centuries, these sites have been described in sacred scriptures as the very places where devotees could earn the merits of all the pilgrimages put together.

Haridwar Haridwar has very rich ancient religious and cultural heritage. In the ancient scriptures of India, this place is well known by the name of Mayapur. This city is also well known for many other things apart from the holy river Ganges. The tomb Piran Kaliar of Shabir Shahib in Roorkee is a living example of religious harmony in India which is visited by the people of all religious sects from all over the world. Besides this, Kumbh fair is organized at the interval of every 12 years in this city in which about 1 crore pilgrims from all over the world participate.

Mathura Mathura, popularly known as Brij Bhoomi, is the birth place of Lord Krishna. Krishna, the popular incarnation of Vishnu. This area is a major pilgrimage place for Hindus and this area is closely linked with many episodes in Krishna early life. A long stretch of beautiful ghats - with their steps leading to the water's edge, arched gateways and temple spires extending along the right bank of the River Yamuna, enhances the sacred character of the town of Mathura. Mathura is today an important place of pilgrimage, flocked by thousands of pilgrims daily.

Rishikesh Rishikesh is one of the most important pilgrimage centres in India.Surrounded by hills on three sides with the holy Ganges flowing through it, located at a height of about 1360 feet above the sea level, it is also called the 'Yoga Capital of the World'. The whole city is considered to be a sacred place where mediating will lead to attainment of salvation.

Vaishno Devi Tour The holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is one of the most visited pilgrim sites in India. The shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is located in a cave, amidst the folds of the Trikuta Bhagwati Mountains at a height of 5, 300 ft., in the state of Jammu and Kashmir . In the cave there are images of three dieties viz. the Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. This cave temple is at a distance of 61 kms from Jammu and the last 13 kms of the way have to be negotiated on foot by the yatris, as the devotees are called. Once at the entrance to the cave, the path turns into a narrow tunnel with a cold stream named the Charan Ganga running through it. The pilgrim has to wade through this to reach the Garbha Griha.

Vrindavan Tour Vrindavan the birthplace of Lord Krishna is referred as 'Lila Bhumi', or the place where he revealed himself. It is here that Lord Krishna used to indulge in Raslila, the dance with Gopis, or milkmaids. Among the numerous temples in Vrindavan, the most impressive is the Govind Dev Temple, which was built by Raja Man Singh of Amber in 1590. Another important temple situated here is the Rangaji Temple whose architecture is a mixture of Rajput, South Indian and Italian style.
